Thanks for the encouragement Bill!
However, although what you say makes perfect good sense - as did my original suggestion along the same lines, I got the distinct impression that they were just not interested(basically "couldn't be bothered") to go along with my very politely-put offer to check out any future Holly discs by direct comparison with the original-issue LP in my collection.
...also, since they were ONLY issuing previously-released LPs on "two for one" CDs, it seemed they only had "Buddy Holly Story vol 2" left to go, together with Volume One - if they could get the rights [Spectrum having already put it out on a budget CD - a nice "reissue", except that a couple of the tracks were now in stereo!]
But I was above all PUZZLED by their just not following up on my very friendly and courteouusly-put offer to help them "get it right" in future....I wasn't asking for, or expecting payment of any kind - just offering to lend a helping ear as it were....
To sum it up, Bill - I don't believe a similar offer now would be accepted [& I am certain I didn't upset them the first time, I was very sensitive to the fact that they might not have welcomed having had a "mistake" pointed out].
Such a pity - we just want the "right" versions of Buddy Holly recordings out there - both to replace {or rather prevent us from wearing out} our original LPs - and for the newer and future fans who will only have CDs, and later technologies available!
Barry
