He constantly did shows for KFWB and his newest releases were frequently featured as Pick Hits of the Week (or "Disc-overies" as they were called after 1958). He could best be described as a Countrified Nat "King" Cole, and the hugely successful Capitol Records star was his biggest influence. Releases such as "Move Over (When True Love Walks By) (1963) and "You're Driving You Out Of My Mind" (1965) pointed in the direction of Country, where he was to have great success in the late 60s and early 70s. After this reign on the Country charts was over, he later joined his old friends in performing on several Rock 'n' Roll Revival and Oldies shows. Ritchie Valens'overprotective mother said in an interview with the L.A. Times shortly before she died that she could always count on Jerry to get Ritchie home safely from a concert appearance.
