Besides Holly there were other examples of this happening in Australia.

Ricky Nelson 'Travelling Man/Hello Mary Lou' just to name one.

Mark, another example of what you were saying is the absolutely mega rare first EP issued anywhere in the world by The Bee Gees. Just simply titled 'The Bee Gees' on the Leedon label LX-10747(Lee Gordons label who bought Holly to Australia) and released in 1963 when they (Bee Gees) lived in Australia from 1959-67 and started their recording career.

I believe it sold 386 copies of which it is alleged the Gibb family (Bee Gees) purchased most of them to try and assist sales. The last copy I am aware of sold here in Australia in a private sale for $US1650.

Just so hard to find. I would love to go to Florida where Barry Gibb lives and have a look in his basement to see what is there! LOL.
