 You may be interested in the review of It Doesn't Matter Anymore/Raining In My Heart from Billboard magazine:

"Holly switches style in the ballad kick on "It Doesn't Matter Anymore", a tune cleffed by Paul Anka. "Raining" is a ballad by [Felice and Boudleaux Bryant] that is also warmly read. Excellent ork backing on both helps. These could be big sides."

Dated: 1/19/1959.
A-side: #13Pop.
B-Side: #88 Pop.

So Billboard liked it, suggesting it may have had success anyway. Seems the B-side was a minor hit in its own right.

So far as the UK is concerned, Holly was so popular and it was such a groundbreaking arrangement that I'm convinced it would have been a big hit.
