Really?? I thought the revelation about that release was that the ORIGINAL master tapes had indeed been used, resulting in the best-sounding Holly in literally decades. I remember Bill Griggs mentioning way back in the late '70s or early '80s that he was told that there were literally more than a dozen "master tapes" of "That'll Be the Day" in MCA/Universal's vaults, only one of which was the original. And John Goldrosen thought the muffled, tinny sound on the 1978 "20 Golden Greats" vinyl LP was sufficiently atrocious to rate a mention in an edition of his Holly biography. I understand the arguments in favor of the "warmth" of vinyl, but I'm still glad I was fortunate enough to live in the digital age.
