In 2001 having visited the 'Buddy Holly Centre' in Lubbock I went down to Wink where Roy Orbison hailed.

There is a small but very good museum dedicated to the 'Big O'.

It was closed when we arrived and we had to phone a number on the door to get someone to come and open up for us.

The reason I am writing this is that they had 2 pairs of his glasses there and the lady gave me one pair to hold and to try on if I wanted.

I didn't as it didn't feel right but what a contrast between this and the way Buddy's glasses are looked after in Lubbock.

Like Buddy’s I should add that Big O’s lens were very thick.

With what happened to Buddy's old glasses if he is anything like most people he would probably have just thrown them away

Tony

PS I saw Orbison twice in the 60's in the UK , once on the same bill as the Beatles !!
