Bill, guys, I totally agree.
I never meant to put myself on a pedestal with my comments, nor come across as being bigoted. I admit I DID use the Little Richard reference though, and in error I misquoted what he actually claimed. (Which Bill quite rightly corrected- Thanks Bill!)
My comments were made in astonishment at such claims about Buddy. Researching him in depth is one thing, brilliant, studying the music, his career, life, marriage, friends, family, all those kind of things,to the extent that we know little details such as what cigarettes he smoked, and that kind of thing. All this factual information is brilliant to know and learn. It helps us feel that little bit nearer to Buddy.
But when people take a kind of 'throw away' comment and start trying to 'add 2 and 2 together to come up with 5', and are basically looking BEYOND fact, in order to create fiction.....well, it's just not right.
It's taken 50 years for this allegation to be made, and that in itself, is laughable.
But as a few of you guys have said, best it ENDS here.
