 If jumping to conclusions burned calories, there wouldn't be an ounce of fat on some of y'all. An anonymous letter was sent. The sender clearly didn't want Peggy Sue to marry J.I. The standard argument "He plays the devil's music!" wasn't going to work on Peggy Sue, a rock n' roll fan. So what better way to discourage her from getting involved with Alison OR Holly than to question their manhood? The question is, why was this person so against Buddy & J.I. that they would actually send a trashy letter like that? Was it jealousy?
