Maybe I am not seeing the photo well enough, but Buddy's Stratocaster was pretty well beat up and the Custom shop guitar doesn't look like Buddy's at all to me. I think its amazing the amount of wear he put on it in such a short time. As far as the actual 55, if Larry or someone else revealed the serial #, there would be 20 fakes in a matter of days. I had many conversations with Bill Griggs over the years about it, and now share his opinion that this ultimate Rock and Roll artifact is lost forever.
The custom shop is building me a Stratocaster, it is my first one, I am interested to see if it's really that much better than my other ones. I hope so, it sure was expensive-
