Lonnie Donegan is best remembered in America for the novelty song "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight?". A good novelty song always does well on the charts. Also, when it became known to American fans that the Beatles, in their Quarrymen days, were a skiffle band and that Lonnie Donegan was the best-known exponent of that genre, that further awakened interest in America in Donegan.
