You can add to Pete Wingfield's credentials that for several years he played keyboards in Albert Lee's band, Hogan's Heroes. Fellow Brits who recall seeing him will remember his sheer joie de vivre - when I once told him I had never seen anyone enjoy themselves playing music as much as him (except perhaps B. Springsteen) he said he had had a blessed life in which he had been lucky to be able to follow his musical fancies and never be a wage slave to anyone. He featured in great versions of 'Last Date' and 'On The Rebound' on Albert's album 'Tear It Up'. On another occasion, when I asked him at half-time if Albert would be featuring a certain song in part 2 of the gig he said 'well, come with me and we'll make him do it' which 'we' then did. Nice man, no pretensions.
