 My personal impression of Buddy, as an artist, was that he knew his abilities. But he always saw himself as part of a group, be it one; Jack Neal or Bob Montgomery; two, as in the Three Tunes; or three; with The Crickets.

I'm not saying Buddy wasn't a good solo artist, but he seemed to delight in working with others.

Even Elvis saw the value of working with his back up band members.
