 I had a pleasant movie-going time yesterday. My wife and I visited an independently-owned theater, saw the wonderful "Beasts Of The Southern Wild" and the experience was nothing like what I related in my first post. There was a quiet slide show before the main feature, some pleasant coming attractions, and the film was bright and in focus. It is a lovely movie house owned by a husband and wife team who truly love film. They show documentaries and independent films (ones that are usually ignored by the bigger chains) as well as blockbusters like the Dark Knight. Their tickets are also reasonably priced.

I think the negative experiences I've had were in the "big box" metroplexes run by corporate chains. There are several in my neck of the woods. I avoid them now.

If the "Buddy Holly/Ganymede" film ever comes out, I will see it at the independent movie house, and support local business.
