Thanks for that Mike.
In my view, first world countries should be helping countries like Madagasgar etc, to re-forest and make their wood industries sustainable, as the woodpulp industries of the north have (I speak as a former worker in the cardboard packaging industry).
Only by making this financially viable can it be achieved.
If I had to cut down and sell a rare and valuable tree in order to feed my hungry grandchild, I would. The lemur.s fate would not be my concern.
But once a species is gone, it's gone.
I am considering my position vis a vis playing Gibson instruments.
