'Having studied the history of rock & roll by reading many books and having lived through every minute of the genre's history, I've found that Buddy Holly is the central figure in rock & roll history, and his death is the central event in the music's history. The loss of Buddy Holly put rock & roll into a tailspin from which it has never recovered.'

This seems a very extravagant claim! Can there be any one central figure or one central event?

I'd be interested if you could argue your case.

Mike
