Buddy was intrigued by trying new styles. Norman arranged the string session in New York, and was planning an album of Ray Charles covers with Buddy at the time of his death. Who knows, perhaps Holly would have tackled the folk-genre that would be so big in the early '60s next as well, especially since the Greenwich Village scene was so close by & happening. I think he would have tried a bit of everything, and that's what would have made Buddy a fantastic producer, much like Jimmy Bowen ended up to be.
