Ritchie sang the Paddiwack song to the little ones,later a big hit with different lyrics for Barney the dinosaur. There is a scene in La Bamba of this.
Older kids looked after younger ones in the 1950's much the same way as it happens today with the exception DEFAX may be called if parents cannot provide basic necessities.
His brother Bob had a radio.
Ritchie listened to hits of the day, his contemporaries.
