I always used standard tuning whilst playing in proper groups. However, when I started doing backing tracks for a duo, I got really frustrated at not being able to get stuff right that I thought ought to be easy! This applied especially to Status Quo numbers, of which there were several. Then I saw the light! Rick Parfitt used tunings that fitted the songs best! So then I started using different tunings for certain songs. Hard to do on stage live, unless you have several guitars pre tuned as they did. I still used standard tuning for 50's songs by e.g. Buddy Holly/Eddie Cochran etc.
By all fourths, do you mean E-A-D-G-C-F ? What do you use that for?
