The death of Chuck Berry is very sad, but what a life!

Rockin' in 'til the break of dawn of his 90th year.

Chuck was everything, all of it, the sum.

Sure we love other rockers of the decade that created youth culture, but Chuck inspired all of them. Buddy,Carl,ELVIS,Eddie,Jerry Lee,Gene,Roy,..and that's just the beginning.

Sure, the Fat Man and the Georgia Peach were there too, but Chuck played GUITAR! And man did he wail.

For decades more Chuck's riffs, lyrics and showmanship called out to disaffected youth and shouted "you can do this!"

The Beatles, Stones, Van Morrison and Them, David Bowie, the New York Dolls, Sex Pistols, White Stripes and hundreds yet to be named all desired to make that guitar ring like a bell.

And, the man who John Lennon called "another name for rock'n'roll" truly was a poet with the the back beat you just couldn't lose, long before Bob went electric.

Though it's only one of his many masterpieces, "hail hail rock'n'roll"(from School Days)could be the greatest narrative of teenage angst ever written ("the teacher just don't know how mean she looks!").

Should there ever be a mount "riffmore" of true Rock'n'Roll inventors/heroes, Chuck's would be the first face carved in to the mountain.

A rockers legacy? 90 years is not nearly enough, but 2 min. and 20 seconds is genius.

So, bye bye Johnny B. Good, the celestial master class has been waiting for you.
