*** Would anyone consider the Platters to be a Doo-Wop group? I have a friend who thinks they were; I don't think so myself. ***

They aren't "doo-wop" in the sense of skat singing and the like (ala Dion and The Belmonts record of "I Wonder Why"), but they are a vocal group, and to many, "vocal group" and "doo-wop group" are interchangable.

*** As for their admission to the RRHOF, I don't think they should be there.***

Going by others that are inducted, they may as well be too: At least they had hits during the "Rock and Roll Era", unlike The Mills Brothers, whom I believe are also inducted. I like some of The Platters songs, but yeah, they're about as rock and roll as "True Love Ways" or "Raining in My Heart"... Of the songs of theirs that I know, "The Great Pretender" is about the closest they came to a record with any "oomph" to it-That's not saying they never did do anything faster, but that's of their songs that I know of.
