Usually, I read Cleftonefan's post with due deference and respect, and make a point not to argue with the enormous database that resides between his ears.
However............
I'm pretty sure that Elvis's pre-eminent position among the 50's teenage fraternity was in great part due to his NON-ACCEPTANCE by our parents and other establishment figures of the time. I recall he was practically accused of leading our young down the path of debauchery and evil and raping our little sisters and so on etc....
