Thankyou, Casey. Yours was, easily, one of the most enjoyable, readable pieces, on this board, let alone, subject, in a long time. You’ve really taken Waylon’s words to heart (and one has to appreciate Waylon wrote this lyric, which is important, here).

It is, indeed, hard to believe Buddy accomplished all he did at such a young age. Increasingly, it appears, from his minutely examined few days on Planet Earth, Buddy had way more fun than any of us ever suspected. Thankfully.

We know those two, Waylon and Buddy, had many good times together... fans have a deliberate way of pushing forward photos to back this up, but I’ve always felt the reference to “you were mean as hell” comes from the period Buddy was trying to make Waylon into a passable, back-up guitarist in less than two weeks.
