 I think what Austin read was something I recall reading - and I agree - that the CRICKETS were among the first groups to write their own music AND to predict the standard lineup of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals in a self-contained band.

Buddy was a phenomenal talent; still, it was indeed his leadership and involvement in the Crickets that put him on the map, so to speak!
