I purchased The King Of Clovis several years ago from Amazon, and I’m currently reading it for the third or fourth time. I met Norman Petty in 1966, when he recorded two sides for me in the Seventh Street Studio. My roommate had a rock band and we recorded two Country songs I had written in high school. I was eighteen and a freshman at Eastern New Mexico University at the time. What a fine man he was. I was exceedingly disturbed when my wife and I saw the so called Buddy Holly Story years later, and I’m grateful that Mr. Blanas has set the record straight. I especially enjoyed getting a glimpse of the true love ways of Vi and Norman. Theirs was a Big Love, and it touched my own broken heart. The love of my life died in 2014, and I rained many joyful tears reading about Vi and Normon. I have always loved Buddy’s music, and I know that Norman Petty was the reason Buddy became a star. Buddy knew it too and so did his parents. I’m writing a Time Travel novel and my characters are going to change the history of Rock and Roll. And they all lived happily ever after.
