It's nice to see the late Norman Petty finally getting credit where credit is due. I'd wager, however, that Maria Elena Holly Diaz and Jerry Ivan Allison did not participate in any way in this book and their hatred of Norman is set in concrete just as it was when John Goldrosen first exposed that hatred to light in 1975-78. Bill Griggs set out to rehabilitate Norman, based purely on facts gleaned from contemporary documents (1957-59 period) in Norman's business file. But how could Griggs, et al, compete with Goldrosen's book--such a sound biography in practically every other way even though the documentation Griggs and others dug up in in the years following were not available to Goldrosen--when Goldrosen's book was published (in various editions) by major book publishing companies, whereas Griggs' findings (which IMO are convincing) and the findings of others were only self-published (in fanzines, online, interviews, etc.). Griggs couldn't compete with the overall "authoritativeness" of Godrosen and its reputation as THE true biography of Buddy Holly's life and music.
