It's not a question of "meaning" as much as it is
a question io inspiration.

It seems you prefer to accept the most obvious explanation of "mundane" pop songs, although I would call a lot of them
pop culture classics.

Using your own argument, by accepting the most common
explanation, you are doing exactly what you say "dreamers"
are doing. Interpreting song lyrics in a way that makes sense to them. I'm sure you will agree that when it comes to all forms of art, no one interpretation, feeling or reaction is the law.

It's for that very reason than a great many song writers refuse to divulge their original intent or inspiration for a lyric, preferring to let the listener enjoy, dislike, or ponder the message in their own way.

I'm sure of one thing...

If you and I shared a beer, we could have an interesting exchange of ideas.
