No big secret here. There are the CAB reports and the autopsies. Jerry Dwyer has never stated to anyone willing to publish the information what he thinks happened. He always alluded to "writing a book," but that never happened. What I like about Ryan Vandergriff and Kevin Terry's book is that it gives an exhaustive look at details leading up to the crash, including a number of failed flight exams for Roger Peterson, CAB Testimony, personal insights into the principals in the story (including numerous statements from Dwyer, none of which get to the heart of what he thinks caused the crash), dozens of anecdotal stories and theories, some of which contradict each other, all of which leave the reader with the task of making their own conclusions.

I think we have to accept that we will never truly know what happened. But this book certainly gives you a multi-faceted approach. There's no big "reveal" here. But if you're as interested in the crash as you seem to be, this is the book you're looking for. There is no "smoking gun," no single sentence that sums up what happened with 100% certainty. My opinion of pilot error given Peterson's bouts with vertigo and failed flight tests is only that - an opinion. It may not be correct. But the book is a fascinating read.
