 From what I understand (I could be wrong) the original company that was supposed to create the hologram cancelled. The hologram we're seeing now is from a different company.

I saw an interview with John Mueller.

He said he was supposed to be the model for the hologram. The original company was going to film him and then digitally add Buddy's likeness. But this never happened.

This latest hologram appears to simply be video of an imitator. No digital manipulation.

Deepfake technology exists, but it wasn't used. I recently saw a clip of the comedian Bill Hader on a talk show. He tells an anecdote about Tom Cruise. Whoever uploaded the video digitally manipulated Hader's face and switched it with Tom Cruise's face:

When Hader goes into his impression of Tom Cruise, the deepfake team changes his face: he becomes Tom Cruise! A perfect likeness.

I think this was the plan with John Mueller, but it didn't happen. I'm guessing the current hologram team decided it would be more profitable to simply film a young imitator and leave it at that.

If I'm wrong, and anyone here has more information, let me know.
