Hi Mike

It seems as though there has been more than one issue
of a similar nature.

I see an earlier example online of a small box set
featuring a well known pic of Buddy in a smiling close up.
The background colour is blue. That is NOT the version I found.

The set I wrote about is called "The Unforgettable Buddy Holly and The Crickets", from readers digest music. It shows a copyright year of 2000. The primary graphic is of Buddy, J.I. and Joe B. framed by one half of Buddy's famous glasses.

I was happily correct that none of the tracks feature the pics overdubs of the 80's.

The Norman Petty/Fireballs overdubs are mostly in proper
stereo form, (but not Brown eyed handsome man or Wishing) also true stereo are the tunes from the N.Y. string session.

Peggy Sue Got Married (Jack Hanson 1959) is muddy fake stereo. Hipockets Duncan's greatest hit is presented in the heavy strings overdub, and is stereo.

The original Clovis, Nashville, Tinker A.F.B. etc. are a mixture of mild fake stereo and in 6 or 7 cases, proper mono.

The entire set is low in bass frequency response, even by usual Holly reissue standards. This is easily remedied by engaging the loudness button.

I hope that helps some...
