Hi Franklyn

Thanks mainly to your info,
I borrowed a copy of the box set from a friend, and am now enjoying reviewing the "rare" versions and hard to find items.

many are not new to me, but as you suggested. there are a few surprises. Digital, for good or not so good, vs. analogue, can in some cases provide improved clarity (though often with a loss of natural tone). The original source quality is still the most important ingredient, but the skill of the transfer engineer is also a factor.

I have been most surprised so far, by the much improved clarity of Lonesome Tears. Every other lp or cd version I have heard always sounded "muddy" compared to the rest
of the properly recorded material, and I often wondered why.

The offering on the NFA 6 cd box tackles that problem at last. The track sounds great, with far more clarity and fidelity. It's far from my favourite song, but it's nice to hear it in much improved audio. My guess is that an earlier generation tape was sourced at last.
