 I believe the date you mentioned is incorrect: I own "The Crickets-Still in Style" released by Bear Family, and according to the discography in the booklet, it states that "Love's Made a Fool of You" was recorded on December 16, 1958, and "Someone, Someone" was recorded on November 21, 1958.

The liner notes stated that Petty sent the tapes of those two songs to Brunswick by express delivery, and the single of "Someone, Someone/Love's Made a Fool of You" was released on February 27th, 1959.
