Jason UK,

Here's a bit of info on Carol Kaye and playing on Ritchie's records. As I mentioned in my other post, her work on Ritchie's records was highly exaggerated. For example, on a different forum I post on, somebody mentioned that she's on "La Bamba", and I had this to say in regard to that:

**** Carol Kaye did *not* play on "La Bamba". "La Bamba", recorded on September 23, 1958 has the following players on it:

Richard 'Ritchie Valens' Steven Valenzuela: Vocal/Guitar
Rene Joseph Hall: Guitar/Danelectro Bass
Irving C. Ashby: Guitar
Buddy Clark: Bass
Ray Johnson: Piano
Earl Cyril Palmer Jr: Drums

The liner notes to "Ritchie Valens Rocks" do have this to say about Carol Kaye: "There was a get-together on December 16-its contents are unknown-that reportedly added Carol Kaye on rhythm guitar."

This get-together was 3 months *after* "La Bamba" was recorded, so she didn't play on it. ****

Again, this info is from the liner notes to Bear Family Records album "Ritchie Valens Rocks". I'm very confident in what their liner notes say, as they are very well researched and usually by well known authors in the music field.
