I was only four years old, when "The Chirping
Crickets" LP was released in 1957. If I may, I would
like to ask any of the Teenagers, of that time, who
first bought that vinyl album, a question.

Back in 1957, it was a common assumption, that
The Crickets sang the Harmony Vocals. Right?

Is that what made those Harmonies, pleasing
to the ears? Did it actually make a difference, when
it was discovered (by the public), that Gary & Ramona
Tollet sang Harmonies on two tracks & The Picks sang
Harmonies on nine?

Fast forward 27 years later.

Suppose The Crickets were given the accolades,
for those very same Harmony Overdubs, in 1984? Would
that make them more enjoyable to the ears, let alone
acceptable?

1984 was no different, from 1957.

1984 is "The Chirping Crickets, Volume Two", so to speak.
Obviously, I don't mean that, literally. Just in the very
same spirit as 1957, putting the frosting on the cake.

In other words, if we don't have any problems with
The Picks' Harmony Overdubs, in 1957, why should we
have any problems, musically speaking, in 1984?

But, even if you don't enjoy it, that's alright.
But why attempt to destroy them? Just don't listen to them!

I derive enormous pleasure, for example, in both versions
of "Oh,Boy!". Un-Dubbed & Over-Dubbed. Chocolate &
Strawberry. They BOTH taste good. They applies to "Well
All Right", 27 years later. A different flavor.

If the major concern is, that future generations, may not
become aware of the original versions, give them
EVERYTHING. Make it obvious which is the original masters,
and, what isn't. They will still have, like myself, more
flavors to enjoy.

Or, If need be, more to choose from.

However, as Waylon always said, why judge?

Can't we just accept good music, for what it actually is?

God Bless & Peace
