There is no way you could ever make those songs any better than they were originally.
I can understand Lisa Maria wanting to sing with her Elvis, or Hank Jr. wanting to sing with Hank, or Natalie wanting to sing with Nat.
You can be a nice guy and still wreck a song. We have the right to criticize because, for one, the overdubs awful.
The songs were better off left alone. It is a shame this was allowed to go on.
If I was a young person and came across Buddy Holly's music and heard those overdubbed tracks, why would I want to continue searching Buddy's music? After a couple of awful tracks, I would tell myself there is no point going any further with this artist, and move on. That is the shame of it all.
Sorry to say, it is almost like Buddy Holly dying twice.
There is absolutely no way he would have let the overdubs happen if he had not died in that airplane crash.
