I contacted the publisher of the online & print magazine "Bluegrass Unlimited" to inquire of Ramblin' Tommy Scott, and received this reply:
"Hi Charles:
Ramblin' Tommy Scott is very much alive. I just talked to him at Owensboro, Ky., last year at the International Bluegrass Music Museum's River of Music Party... But he's still around, and has just published a book, which I reviewed in the December 2008 issue... The book is titled "Snake Oil, Superstars And Me: The Story of Ramblin' "Doc" Tommy Scott," by Tommy Scott with Shirley Noe Swiez and Randall Franks, Katona Productions. It's a huge book with 700 pages and hundreds of photographs, an index, a discography, and filmography. It's not the kind of book you can read in a few days--lotta of stuff there.
I will be addressing your query in several months in the "Notes & Queries" column of Bluegrass Unlimited, in case you are a subscriber. -- Walt Saunders"
So, apparently Ramblin' Tommy Scott is still kicking up his heels and performing at the ripe old age of 92... God Bless him!
