Subject: John Fogerty biography, Buddy

I just read John Fogerty's new biography and he mentions Buddy in a few times. For starters, The Crickets, the idea of the whole band getting credit for "That'll Be The Day" when he first heard it appealed to him. He really liked that idea and based on them, how perfect the four piece band is, the mold for the future CCR and also the Beatles. Perhaps one of the more interesting things related to Buddy was how John bought the Decca recordings after Buddy's death and thought that there was no way Buddy would have approved of those being released, especially the Nashville version of 'TBTD'. John vowed not to leave anything left on tape other than the masters of his songs for fear that in a future or if he died, Fantasy would release what he thought to be bad and embarrassing recordings, so he meticulously erased everything after the sessions. No alternate takes, no outtakes, etc...Just thought it was interesting that he credits Buddy for teaching him that.
