And Buddy's string sessions have confounded the purists for decades. His simple experiment with a different arrangement has confused generations of purists: "He was abandoning Rock and Roll!" "No he wasn't!" "Yes he was! If he'd lived, he would have turned into Bobby Vee!"

We have Buddy's own words, when asked by Red Robinson what the future held for rock & roll, he responded "I'd prefer singing soething quieter, anyway." Now, maybe he was just saying what was 'politically correct" at the time, but he did say it.
