Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay founded and co-owned the band from its origins in Idaho until Mark left in the mid 1970s. Revere played keyboards, Mark Lindsay was the lead singer, played sax and the main songwriter. ( yes, he co-wrote with Terry Melcher ,Keith Allson and others )

Revere himself very very sang lead. Maybe three songs total, all lp filler, during their time on Columbia Records. Its Mark Lindsay you hear singing lead on all of the hits.

After Mark left, Lead singers included Michael Bradlry..replaced by Carl Driggs replaced by Darren Medley ( Bills' son ) and currently Darren Dowler.

Carl Driggs was the lead singer in the 1980s/1990's.

If you saw them in the 80s as you claim, Revere was the blond guy behind the keyboards telling jokes between songs.

Hope this helps.
