Yes, much to my surprise, it is indeed possible to separate individual instruments in a mono recording and remix to stereo. Thank you for posting the stereo "Rave On" link, because it got me curious enough to do a simple Google search where I found the stereo "Everyday" and was amazed at what I heard.

Check out the link below and go to the MEDIA menu to hear several examples of classic recordings that have been converted from mono to stereo - fascinating stuff. I don't feel that this is an inappropriate link to post here, as there are other 50s-era tracks there, most notably one by Elvis and one by Santo & Johnny. Enjoy...I'll bet Buddy would have approved!
