All electronic devices in todays drag cars with the exception of the delay box, are used to improve the cars performance. The delay box is used specifically to enhance the drivers performance on the starting line. Most of todays competitive drivers are quite capable of going red at will. A delay box in the hands of a savy driver is a very usefull TOOL. Take the delay box out and now the same driver will go red if he or she leaves at the same point on the tree. This does nothing to improve a slower reacting driver but will cause the quicker driver to have to adjust something to keep from going red. NOW he or she can use any number of the other methods already in the car, launch chip, timing, shock settings, four link, adjustable trans brake button, etc. and the list goes on. These methods are not as simple as rolling numbers in or out of the box but you will not keep a good driver / race car from achieving the .000 for long. -- Texas Pro Stock Association Message Board

I remember our rules say " Driver/Tuner class without the use of electronics" I see electric/air shifters as a safety feature, data recorders as an aid to tune and monitor engine functions, but Delay boxes only aid the driver and should be removed.
