Subject: You can NOT stop the Progression in this class or you will die!

People want to hold back (retard) the class for there own personal gain. Every wants a chance to be a hero for a day.The Dictators have seen the light and continue to let the class progress naturally over time. They understand that money can buy speed and that is the way of the world (sorry). They understand that the cars will progressively get faster and faster until the level of technology one must poses in order to run competitively will be in the NHRA Comp eliminator range. That will not be for many many years yet but it will happen eventually. What most don't understand is that this will and is going to happen and it is happening progressively over time which is a good thing. If it happened all at once the class would be dead. Slow progression is great for a class and that will insure the longevity and interest for many years to come! Racing and engine building are competitive by nature. Without competition there is no progression there is only stagnation and stagnation is instant DEATH in business and racing alike!!!! Any time a sanctioning body leans towards the welfare approach to drag racing and try to make everyone even, they drag down the best and brightest in the class, stagnate progression and kill the class forever. How many instances can you count of this very thing happening. We all want to go fast. We all want to be the best. we all want to be the fastest but guess what, we cant always be the best because someone is going to out work, out spend and out wit your a$$. If you cant except this fact then you don't belong in racing. This is competition at its finest and the powers that be (dictators) have placed before us a situation where the best and the brightest can shine. Yes, the expense is going up. It has been going up, It will continue to go up. And if you don't have the competitive nature at heart and are not willing to give it everything you have, you will not succeed. That is racing. If you don't understand that, then you never really understood the very nature of the sport you participate in.

You do have "Pro" in the name. If you want cheap, there are classes for that. Its call caled Super Gas.

[> I agree with your opinion, in theory. One exception is "People want to hold back (retard) the class for there own personal gain". Joe Pigford suggested some form of a "cap" to discourage spending at levels unobtainable to 80% of our current members. I've been racing a long time and have NEVER heard the quickest car (and a racer with a large budget) suggest to penalize (limit) HIMSELF. He obviously enjoys the class, and is concerned with the big picture. Car count is essential to the success and continued growth of the TPSA, and costs definitely impact participation. We have some great sportsmen in the group who have said "run 'em and we'll do our best to catch up". Others are convinced this is some type of ploy to undermine their dominance, should they be able to achieve the necessary performance. Still others would like to see adjustments but have no idea where to start. Joe Pigford's unsolicited, selfless gesture is to be admired......... ask yourself what YOU would have done? -- Let's get ready for some action, Saturday @ HMP....DH....off the soapbox for now.....LOL, 10/11/06 1:11pm

[> [> the first thing i would do is find out what he is smoking and drugf test him before he drives. why would someone build a one off reher motor and then slow it down. why not race a 5.00 index if the only goal is to slow down. the people on this forum make no cents. race heads up but if someone is fast stop the presses. why not just race dulleys or motorhomes -- just wondering, 10/12/06 3:44pm

????
