Subject: Report from Otwell's All-In Motorsports shop...

Well, Eddie Conrad (TPSA's Engine Tech Inspector) was summoned to the shop this evening to settle the BS going on. He checked the valve angle, the bore center and had to have a look at the intake that is being called illegal by some. He named names of those who have questioned the legality and even stated who has been making some posts on various message boards claiming we are cheating, however we elect to hold that in confidence. Now first off all, the CURRENT TPSA rules state that a CAST intake must be used. There is no rule against modifying that intake anyway you want so long as no sheetmetal is added (sheetmetal tacks on 50# to a combinations minimum weight) So, the Profiler Intake and its modifications are completely within the rules. The valve angle is within the allowable minimum allowed and it is a 4.840 bore spacing. For clarification we are talking about the new motor built according to the current rules. As for the heads, they are BMF conv BBC heads by CFE that anyone can buy (see rules again). There is absolutely NO WELDING on the ports. After you buy them send 'em over to Slick Rick at NRC for some porting magic. For informational purposes, the heads on the old motor were built prior to the rule changes regarding where and when heads can be welded on, thus they are grandfathered in. A fact that Eddie will admit to is his heads are welded and built to the old rules also. For you people calling and posting that it's a cheater motor, please READ the rules first. So, in closing quit whining and go work on your stuff or call NRC, Reher-Morrison or whoever you want and tell them you need a bad ass conv headed 565 BBC with a single carb on top of a cast intake, make your ride legal weight with a glide and get in the other lane!
