It is an admirable pastime to translate from one language to another. I commend your efforts.

You are correct on both counts -- the "gay smutty play" mentioned is "Our Town Too", an off-shoot of the original Americana apple-pie play "Our Town" by Wilder. Several of the characters are depicted as gay and lesbian, and the theme is about inclusion.

I would also like to add a clarification for you if the antecedent was unclear for "he took students to the morgue". Principal Harper is referring to Harry Senate, not himself, when he says this.
