Why not? If they are going to present a "realistic" show, they will have to deal with characters who accept it, and with characters who reject it. Now, you can argue that perhaps they should present a more idealized world, where only one side--the "right" side of any issue is presented. I know people who feel this way--that entertainment should basically inspire and uplift, presenting to all the world what we as a people *should* be, rather than what we *are.* this is a debate which goes back thousands of years, in a sense (do we idealize the features on a sculpture of a heroic general, or do we depict him with every wrinkle, wart, and scar, as he really was?) So, in the first place--what should BP do? Present high school as it is, or as it ought to be? Who decides what it ought to be? If it presents it as it is--what issues should be dealt with? A lot more good issues are passed over than are used, just because Kelley only gets 24 hours out of a year to present them! Since every issue has many ways of approaching it, which angles can be sacrificed, and which ones *must* not be ignored? To use the issue of Jeremy's sexuality--there are different reasons people accept it, and different reasons people reject it, each with their host of rationales. Which ones do we deal with? Which ones do you as a viewer wish had been dealt with, and why?

I have several friend who are gay, and it

I went to high school with a gal who was the principal's daughter. She was frequently called to the office, and frequently teased about it. I do wish they would *show* more of Brooke's peers' reactions to her status. And by the way...I don't recall if the daughter of the woman Steven was dating last year is still supposed to be around. That might make some interesting hallway background shots, at the very least.

i guess i am mostly

I don't know if that is all that far-fetched. I remember after one nationally-headlined incident of school violence, there were stories about kids who went home to change clothes and put on make-up that would make them more likely to be singled out by news interviewers, and then calling each other to maximize their chances of being interviewed by more than one channel and/or commenting on how they looked on a given station. The bottom line was that they were more concerned with getting on TV than they were with the fact that someone had committed a violent crime on their campus.

The bottom line is (and then

I'm not.

Last

I feel the same way about missing an episode.
