Jim: My understanding, and I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong, is that the inside scenes are shot in a soundstage in California. The outside shots of the school are of a few different schools, some in Boston, some in CA. This was according to an online discussion with Anthony Heald (I did not participate, but I came across the text of it a few months ago).
