In my time (1972-5), as I am assume all others preceding, we were permitted to swim down at the marble-lined olympic-sized pool located in the north-east corner of the estate -- and would do so from September until the first bitter days of November (and sometimes past, emerging blue-skinned and goose-bumped well past the changing of the leaves) and then again at the end of spring. At the age of 12/13, Coach Simon would walk up and down along the edge of the pool, while I ineptly paddled its length, patiently teaching me to perfect my crawl. I have remained forever grateful.

Luke, I remember that day like it was yesterday! Coach Simons was a great guy.... he taught me alot about life and overcoming the things that life can throw at you. I am planning to come to the renunion in October .... see you there?

I've seen a couple of references to Coach Russ Simon
