Subject: Montessori Education

I was at SCDS from the sixth thru my freshman year. I would have graduated in 1962. As it turned out, that was the longest I would spend at any school in my academic career, which culminated with an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. I had no idea SCDS had been based on Montessori principles till I went thru the website. So I did some research, coming across the following url from Maria Montessori's book, with an illustration from a "Tarrytown" schoolroom, which has to be SCDS:

My strongest educational memories include of "Sully" Sullivan, my first art teacher, who tried to teach me a great deal of wisdom along with painting, Mrs. Drew who steered me into the Beechwood Players and, was it Mr. Schuller (?) who taught World Religions from a college textbook to us in the seventh grade. I do know those three teachers fostered my intellect & creativity, for which I am very grateful.
