Hi Jennine, and welcome.
I don't have any info about your grandparents but did see the old mansion a few years ago. The mansion itself was converted to condos. It seems very well taken care of and totally original. The geat front lawn is intact as are the Roman Gardens, although the gardens are not planted as they used to be. Considering the disrepair Beechwood mansion was in during the 80's, I personally feel grateful it wasn't torn down.
The soccer field is no longer, having had small 2 level condo's built there, but all the old trees along the road are still there and again, things could have been a lot worse. I have some pictures from about 3 years ago that i'll dig up and sendto you if I can find them.
Being one of the "train crowd", I spent everyday walking through the property and have many fond memories of the Roman Gardens in full bloom. I also remember two large St. Bernards (Suzy and Sally???) that would spot us from way across the great lawn and gallop towards us to deposit their great gobs of saliva.
Do you have any old pictures or stories you could share? We always heard there was a secret tunnel to the river....... and once we snuck into the house and found a large room filled with roman warrior miniatures on a giant table that had been built up into landscapes of Rome. I also fell in love with the room that had TWO concert grand pianos!
best
Todd

>Hi Jennine, and welcome.

I Too remmember that mansion by the soccerfield where the May poles would be set up , and sometimes there were these huge fans to blow the limbs of the trees and leaves when they would film episodes of "Dark Shadows".
We had a cooking class in the mansions kitchen It was an awesome place with beautiful copper cook ware dangling over a huge wooden prep table as I remember and there were two huge old gas ovens,
what adventure.
didnt those st, Bernards belong to coach Kelly(Mike Kellys' dad)I kinda remember them hanging around during soccer practise and greeting Mike.
