does anyone have any memories of the cheevers when they lived on the estate, or any memories of the children?

His daughter Susan wrote about living there in one of her books: I think it may have been "Home Before Dark". She did not mention in that book that she taught English at Scarborough - we knew her as Mrs. Cowley.

I went to school with Ben for a year or two before he transferred to Hackley. The Blake Bailey biography of John Cheever dips into his Scarborough years.

Yes! I used to use Benjy as my model for my artwork. So nice. Am friends with him on FB.
