Subject: from Scarborough to Maui

Nice to see this site. I left Scarborough in Dec. of my Senior Year (1966) to go to California and live in a commune. It was glorious fun. Gave birth to my son Vishnu at home on the commune in northern Cal in 1970. Eventually moved to Maui where I live now. I work as a midwife/labor assistant. I enjoy swimming with dolphins, the ocean, waterfall pools, hiking, yoga, dancing, and drum circles. My daughter Osheana was born on Maui in 1986.

Though I attended some college in the 60's in Cal (UC Davis & Sonoma State) I am now back in school working on a BA in Peace Studies at the University of Hawaii. I'm also a peace activist and work in the public schools educating our children about the realities of the Iraq war (based on lies) and the realities of enlisting in the military. The enlistment form states that in times of war a person in the military may be held for service long past their original termination date. It also states that the military has the right to change the rules without notifying the enlistees, and that they are subject to the new rules. I come with alternative options to the GI Bill for scholarships, service, and travel. The current GI Bill is a scam. Only about 15% of those eligible actually are able to use the funds, and the funds are very limited.

I've also been learning ASL, American Sign Language, and am learning how to teach deaf children to read. I teach babies to swim.

I enjoyed my days at Scarborough. I enjoyed the sports: field hockey, basketball, softball. I remember the dances and the sock hop that was cancelled the day JFK was shot.

aloha and best wishes to all.
